As Canada’s first industrial project owned and operated by an Indigenous community, this groundbreaking venture is designed to produce and export 2.1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually, with commercial operations targeted for 2027.
Backed by a commitment to environmental excellence and innovation, Woodfibre LNG will become one of the lowest-emission LNG facilities in the world. The project utilizes electric drive technology powered by renewable hydroelectricity, dramatically reducing its carbon footprint compared to conventional LNG plants.
Rockfin’s Role in the Woodfibre LNG Project
At Rockfin, we delivered critical auxiliary systems that ensure the safe and efficient performance of the facility's main compression infrastructure, which is vital for the liquefaction process. Our contributions include:
- Lube Oil Units: Engineered to support the Main Refrigerant, Boil-Off Gas, and Feed Gas Booster compressors, these systems ensure continuous and reliable lubrication under demanding operational conditions.
- Seal Gas Panels: Designed to maintain compressor integrity by preventing gas leakage, these systems are essential for safe and efficient operation.
Engineering for Efficiency and Compliance
The project’s ambitious goal of minimizing greenhouse gas emissions necessitates high-performance equipment that meets strict Canadian engineering standards:
- Pressure Equipment Compliance: Rockfin's systems comply with Canadian Registration Number (CRN) requirements, ensuring full adherence to provincial pressure vessel regulations.
- Hazardous Area Certification: All solutions meet both CSA and IECEx standards, supporting safe function in LNG-designated hazardous areas.
- Welding Standards: All fabrication processes conform to Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and ASME Section IX codes, ensuring top-tier durability and safety.
A Shared Vision for Sustainable Energy
Rockfin’s collaboration with the Woodfibre LNG project represents more than just a supply agreement—it reflects a shared vision of sustainable innovation in the global energy sector. With advanced engineering, regulatory excellence, and environmental foresight, our systems are pivotal to the project's mission of delivering cleaner energy to global markets.
Through projects like Woodfibre LNG, Rockfin continues to strengthen its global presence, offering tailor-made solutions that meet the most demanding industry standards. This initiative underlines Rockfin’s commitment to empowering the energy transition and shaping a more sustainable, low-emission future for all.
