Proud to share Rockfin contribution to the first SMR project Darlington in Ontario, Canada!

In collaboration with Arabelle Solutions, we’re delivering Lube Oil System for Darlington New Nuclear Project – the first-of-a-kind BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) to be built in Canada, developed by GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy.

This project marks a significant milestone not onlyin the evolution of clean nuclear energy, but also in the development of modular, repeatable engineering solutions for the SMR program. The aimis clear: to implement a highly standardized and replicable design, enabling efficient deployment of future SMR units in Canada and internationally.

Rockfin Scope of Delivery:

  • Lube Oil Tank Assembly, including:

    • Tank – designed for long-term durability, and easy integration within turbine island systems. Rockfin’s oil tanks are built to handle demanding operating conditions and ensure safe oil storage and circulation.
    •
    • Filters – high-efficiency filtration units customized for turbine applications, ensuring oil purity, minimizing wear of bearings, and protecting sensitive equipment from contamination.
    •
    • Oil Mist Separator – engineered to recover and condense oil mist from the system, ensuring cleaner air emissions and reducing oil losses.

All three components are fully engineered, designed, manufactured, and testedin-house at Rockfin, leveraging our expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, andprocess systems. More about these and other precision-engineered components canbe found on our website here

  • Lube Oil Coolers skid – supporting temperature stability and oil degasification under varying load conditions
  • Accumulators skid – ensuring pressure stability during transient and emergency states
  • Temperature Control Valve (TCV) – enabling precise oil temperature regulation for reliable turbine performance

Built to Meet the Highest Standards

Every pressure component is produced in line withstrict Canadian (Ontario province) regulations, including compliance with CSA standards and certification under the CRN (Canadian Registration Number).

Manufacturing takes place in a facility undergoing TSSA(Technical Standards and Safety Authority) accreditation — a regulatory requirement for pressure equipment production for Ontario.

Delivered by Rockfin Dedicated Nuclear Business Unit

The project is executed by Rockfin specialized Nuclear Business Unit, a team focused exclusively on supporting global nuclear investments. From front-end design and documentation through toproduction, FAT, and logistics – every stage is managed by professional engineers and experts, experienced in nuclear codesand international regulatory environments. This reflects Rockfin unwavering commitment to quality, traceability, and nuclear safety.

This SMR project is a strong example of what close collaboration and comprehensive in-house capabilities can deliver.

We’re proud to be part of this groundbreaking project in collaboration with Arabelle Solutions and GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy – one that not only supports the transition to clean energy, but also sets the standard for future small modular reactor solutions.
