Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant: Supporting Turkey's Energy Future
The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant aims to meet Turkey's growing energy needs with four units generating 1,200 megawatts each.

Located in Mersin province, this nuclear project significantly enhances Turkey's energy security. Rockfin is providing crucial auxiliary systems, with the first unit commissioned in 2023.
Our Contribution
Our involvement in the Akkuyu project underscores its specialized expertise in engineering solutions for high-demand energy systems. We were awarded a contract valued at PLN 120 million to supply auxiliary systems integral to the power plant's steam turbines and turbogenerators.
These auxiliary systems are essential to ensure both the operational efficiency and safety of the nuclear plant, thereby enabling consistent energy generation. This project marks Rockfin's seventh major contract in the nuclear energy sector, further evidencing our significant contributions to complex energy environments.
"With our 30 years' experience, unique know-how, and investments in R&D, Rockfin belongs to the world league of global suppliers of advanced hydraulic systems."
— Michal Wróblewski, Rockfin CEO
Technology Challenge
In the meantime, we faced a lot of technological challenges, particularly in the development of systems capable of working in extreme conditions characteristic for nuclear power plants. The auxiliary systems provided by Rockfin have to reach and sustain high performance levels while managing intense pressure and elevated temperatures.
The reliability of these systems is fundamental to the plant's functionality and safety, as the inherent nature of nuclear energy generation leaves no margin for operational errors. Our advanced capabilities in hydraulic and auxiliary systems have proven critical in overcoming these challenges, ensuring system stability, resilience, and compliance with stringent safety standards.
Partnership
Our participation in the Akkuyu project is part of a broader collaborative framework involving multiple international stakeholders. Such global partnerships are indispensable for delivering state-of-the-art energy solutions. Our collaboration with Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation on various nuclear projects further highlights our standing in the global market for nuclear energy infrastructure.
These strategic partnerships are crucial in ensuring that projects like Akkuyu not only meet but exceed the highest international standards of quality and safety by leveraging the combined expertise and resources of leading industry players worldwide.
Conclusion
Our role in the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant exemplifies its capability to address the sophisticated engineering challenges in the nuclear energy sector. As Turkey has developed its nuclear energy agenda, Rockfin auxiliary systems will be a key in ensuring the reliability and efficacy of the project.
Through the fusion of advanced engineering competencies and strategic international collaborations, we are actively contributing to the evolution of nuclear energy, both within Turkey and on a broader global scale.
