Bouchain CCGT Power Plant: Record Breaking Efficiency

The biggest Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant in France located in the Nord region. It is notable not only for its size but also for holding a Guinness World Record as the most efficient CCGT plant in the world.

The Bouchain CCGT power plant, located in the Nord region of France, is globally recognized for its unprecedented efficiency of 62.22%, setting a world record.

Our Involvement

Rockfin played a pivotal role in the Bouchain project by delivering the critical lubrication systems for the gas turbines ensuring their constant and efficient work. Our production and system control expertise resulted in better exploatation and operational efficiency, which has contributed to the plant's record-breaking performance.

Rockfin's responsibilities included: design, manufactury, assembly, and tests of the entire lubrication system.

Technology Challenge

One of the main technological challenges faced by Rockfin was ensuring that the lubrication system could operate under the harsh conditions of a high-efficiency CCGT plant. With Bouchain's turbines designed to ramp up to full power in under 30 minutes, the lubrication system needed to respond rapidly and provide stable performance under high loads.

Furthermore, the system had to maintain high reliability across a wide range of operational conditions while complying with stringent environmental regulations.

"We've overcome these challenges by leveraging our extensive experience in power plant designing and our commitment to innovation. Our team used advanced design methodologies and testing procedures to ensure that our systems could meet the stringent demands of the Bouchain plant."
— Pawel Jaszewski, Project Management Director, Rockfin

Partnerships

The success of the Bouchain CCGT project was the effect of close collaboration between key players on the energy industry, such as EDF, General Electric (GE), and Rockfin. GE supplied the groundbreaking 9HA gas turbines, which were crucial for the plant's high efficiency, while Rockfin provided the auxiliary systems that ensured the turbines' constant work.

This partnership is a proof that having diverse knowledge can lead to technological breakthroughs.

Conclusion

Rockfin's role in the Bouchain CCGT power plant exemplifies the company's expertise in delivering high-performance auxiliary systems for complex energy projects. Through innovation, technical precision, and strong partnerships, Rockfin contributed to the creation of the world's most efficient power plant, a landmark achievement in both energy efficiency and sustainability.

As energy systems evolve, Rockfin remains at the forefront, driving technological advances that meet the demands of the global energy transition.
